Smooth Jazz 106.9 Recognizes the Milwaukee Area’s Top Scholar Athletes

Muhammad Ali once said, "Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them: a desire, a dream, a vision.“

If you know a middle or high school student that excels in the classroom as well as in sports, nominate that student for the “Smooth Jazz 106.9 Scholar Athlete.”

Each month an exceptional young person will be featured on smoothjaz106.com.  The selected student will also win a gift pack courtesy of Concordia University Wisconsin including a backpack with a stylish hooded sweatshirt, comfortable t-shirt and an exclusive insulated mug.

Why does your scholar athlete deserve this recognition?

Kevon is a leader on and off the court. He is a key player on the basketball team and the leading scorer. He consistently makes honor roll with a 4.0 GPA. Kevon is respectful to teachers and classmates. Our goals at Morse are to be safe, be responsible and be respectful. He takes these goals seriously and helps others to achieve them. I am proud to be his teacher.

Both on and off the court, Abbey is a leader and a compassionate, dedicated student athlete. Her positive attitude is contageous. She is gracious in defeat, but has a passion to excel, both academically and on the field/court that makes her a standout. She manages her time well and has been on A Honor Roll 5 consecutive quarters.

Sherice is a wonderful daughter and student she gets along with everyone and also she is a team player in everything she does when its comes to sports and class work and we are so proud of her.

Why does your scholar athlete deserve this recognition?

Michael works hard on and off the golf course. He plays to an eight handicap and is a member of the Kettle Moraine JV golf team. In school, he is ranked 2nd in his senior class of 351 students. He is also drum major of the KM Marching Band, senior class president, president of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and plays lead Alto Saxophone in Kettle Moraine’s top jazz band!

Why does your scholar athlete deserve this recognition?

Acacia has been an exemplary student since grade school. She has maintained above a 3.0 this year, while being on Varsity volleyball, and is taking all advanced (IB) classes. She also maintained at or above a 3.0 while running track and playing volleyball last year as a sophomore. Acacia is committed to excellence and being a role model for her siblings as well as her friends.
